He was promoted to Full Sergeant on October 8, 1862. He was mustered out on December 8, 1864 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He was in such engagements as Helena, Pine Ridge, Cotton Plantation, Little Rock, Marks Mills, being by General Francis M. Drake when he wounded and helped take him from the field.
