Dies in Hospital
Philip A. Thoennes, 56, former Racine football star, died Thursday in St. Mary's Hospital. Thoennes, a meat cutter by trade, was an all-around athlete in high school and starred at end for the Horlick semi-professional football team and Racine football team from 1912 to 1918. He saw service as a machine gun instructor in World War I at Camp Devens, Mass. He lived at 1438 Buchanan St.
