Ted married Anita Belle Hayden in August of 1958 in Lowell, IN, and together they raised three sons, Dale, Terry, and Gary. He was a 1958 graduate of Ozark Bible College, Joplin, MO (now Ozark Christian College). During his college years he sang in the Kingsmen Quartet. They held concerts and revivals in many churches across the country. He served as a Christian Minister for over 51 years, including ministries in Tyro, KS; McCune, KS; Shidler, OK; and two rural churches near Chanute, KS, South Valley Chapel and Leanna Christian Church. He also managed Hidden Haven Christian Camp until 1992. He served on the Neosho County Area Agency on Aging board and the FRC City Library board for a number of years. He retired from preaching in 2007, but continued to be "Encourager Ted" with his songs, humor, and encouraging words until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Franklin Ohmart and Zola Ruth Ohmart, and his two sisters, Vernabel and Eda Maye.
He is survived by his wife, Anita; his three sons: Dale, married to Cindy, Kansas City, MO; Terry, married to Diane, Carthage, MO; and Gary, married to Nancy, Joplin, MO; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; Nathan and Erin Ohmart, children William and Kathryn, Edmond, OK; Heather and Jonathan Cook, Mesa, AZ; Jessica and Randy Lambeth, children Haidyn and Bennette, Jasper, MO; Natalie and RL Davis, Mesa, AZ; Emily and Matthew Otey, Forsyth, MO; Natina Ohmart, Cleveland, OH; Natasha Ohmart, Kansas City, MO; Hannah Ohmart, Carthage, MO; Kaylee and Devin Wortman, Lincoln, NE; Natianna Ohmart, Kansas City, MO.
