Born Dec. 29, 1942, in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Edward Adam Moore and Alice Virginia Irvine Moore. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Northern Ayres.
Mrs. Ayres was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Lisa Ayres Budzinski and husband Henry of Churchville; two sisters, Sandi M. Shiplett and Dorothy L. Adams, both of Lexington; two grandchildren, Julia Budzinski and Ladd Budzinski.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with the Pastor Gene Williams officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 530 E. Main Street, Suite 200, Richmond, VA 23219 or to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, VA 24018.
