Funeral Services Set For Preston Drowing Victim

"PRESTON- Services have been set for Jerry L. Malley, 29, of Preston, a bank cashier, who died by drowning Wednesday while vacationing near Alexandria.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston with the Rev. Roger A. Herfindahl officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston with military graveside services conducted by the Preston American Legion and V.F.W. Post.

Mr. Malley was born Aug. 11, 1948, in Preston, and graduated from Preston High School in 1966. He has since been employed as a cashier by the Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Preston. In 1968 he began three years of service with the Army, serving with the 101st Airborne in Germany and Vietnam.

He married Binh Tran on April 24, 1971, in Fountain, and she survives. Survivors also include his son, Travis, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Malley of Fountain; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Hanson of Fountain; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Malley of Wykoff, and a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Robin) Konter of Rochester,

Friends may call at Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston from 2 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday, than at the church for one hour before the service."
