DeQuincy --- Monette Core, 76, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 in his residence.
He was a member of Northside Baptist Church of DeQuincy. Mr. Core retired after 44 years with Union Pacific Railroad. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend.
Survivors include his children; brother; sister; one granddaughter and one step granddaughter. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Katie (Odegar) Core; brother, Burton Core, Jr. and sisters, Dorothy Willie, Delma Jimenez and Tommie Lou White.
His funeral will be at 2:00pm Wednesday, May 21, at Northside Baptist Church in DeQuincy, La. with Dr. Ray Clark and Rev. Rolly Walker officiating. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 20, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm and will resume on Wednesday from 11:00am until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
