Coleman Marshall moved to East Tennessee sometime between 1850 and 1860. He first came to Flat Creek near present day Mascot, Knox County, Tennessee, where he established an inn. From there, he moved to Jefferson County at Mossy Creek because of Indian troubles with the Cherokee.
He was a member of the Richland Church and of the Mossy Creek Baptist Church. The site of interment is not known.
