Roy G. Dooley, 88, born September 14, 1926 to Cecil and Edith Dooley in Doniphan, Nebraska, passed away May 15, 2014. He served in the United States Navy in WWII and volunteered for the China Invasion, as well as the Naval Reserves; in total, he served 39 years. He was awarded the following honors: American Theatre of War, Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, Navy Occupation Medal, and Navy Good Conduct award, as well as many reserve medals. Roy stated that his greatest reward, however, was knowing and working with his fellow servicemen. He retired as a mechanic and welder. He married the love of his life, Nadine (deceased), and they had 50 years together. He is survived by his step- daughter, Sharon Redmond; granddaughter and care givers, Suzette (Bob) Moore; grandson, Mark Redmond (Nancy); brothers, Ron and Jack Dooley; sisters, Barbara Willis, Joyce Hubbard (Ben), Karen Hunter (Alan), and sister-in-law, Jan Dooley. Many thanks for the loving care from the staff of Victory Hills and Continuum Care Hospice. Donations may be made to The First Central Church of the Brethren.
