The son of John & Maryland-born Hannah (Reynolds) Brabson, in 1860 he was an apprentice carpenter living with his widowed mother and sisters in Little Britain Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Lancaster July 30, 1862, and mustered into federal service there August 11 as a private with Co. B, 122nd Pennsylvania Infantry. He died from typhoid fever (often incorrectly referred to as "malaria") in the regimental hospital located in the camp of the Army of the Potomac at Falmouth, Virginia.
In 1864, his mother applied for a survivor's pension, claiming Isaac had been her main avenue of support and presented evidence that he had on several occasions sent home some of his army pay. The pension office agreed and issued the pension.
