Jessie Mae Dawkins was born to Fred and Evah Oliver Dawkins on February 27, 1916, in Brookton County, Indiana. She moved to Mapleton, Iowa, at 16 months old due to the death of her mother. She made her home with an aunt and uncle. She received her education in the Mapleton School system. She married Neil M. Wise in 1934. They made their home in Oto, Iowa, and had four children. They later divorced. She married Henry Schultz on March 20, 1945, at Vermillion, S. D. They made their home on a farm at Renwick in 1946. Two years later they relocated to a farm west of Eagle Grove. In 1950, they moved into Eagle Grove. They had three children. She worked at Rotary Ann Home for twelve years. They moved to South Town Apartments in Clarion in 1990. In 1992 they moved to Rotary Ann Retirement Home. In August of 1997, she moved to the Rotary Ann Nursing Home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, an honorary member of the Esther Circle, Royal Neighbors, Rebekah Lodge of Clarion, and Friendship Club of Eagle Grove.

Jessie Mae Schultz died on Friday, September 4, 1998, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 82.

Survivors include her children: Donna (Mrs. Francis Hossman), Eagle Grove, Kathryn (Mrs. David Nisewander), Ocheyedan, Marion Wise, Vanderpool, Texas, Melvin Wise, Memphis, Tenn., Larry Schultz, Dakota City, Paul Schultz, Clarion, and Tim Schultz, Clarion; one sister-in-law of Xenia, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry, in 1993; and two brothers, Melvin and Orville Dawkins.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8,1998 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend William Ballard officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
