Wilson served in the Confederate Army, Co. D, 3rd Ga Regiment, entering the service as a Private on 24 April 1861. He was discharged with a medical disability on 13 February 1862. ( - - incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of a gunshot wound in the forearm - - .)Wilson inherited and purchased huge acreages all around Jack's Creek, the Apalachee River and Rehobeth in Clarke (now Oconee) County, Georgia as well as Morgan County, Georgia. He lived for a short time in Dougherty and moved to Sanford, Seminole County, Florida where he lived near his brother Albert. He was a deputy sheriff there in Sanford.
