Raymond, 94, passed away on May 13, 2014. He was born July 16, 1919 in Hartshorne, OK to Ben & Pearl Pate.
He moved to OKC in 1933 and graduated from Capitol Hill High School. It was there that he met Bessie Wagner who was his wife for 66 years until her passing in 2004.
He was a petty officer in the athletic dept. of the US Navy during WWII at Great Lakes Naval Station.
He worked as a partner in the Pate Oil Co. as a wholesaler for Phillips Petro Co. for 47 years. He sold his business and retired in 1980.
He loved all sports especially golf, bowling, hunting & fishing.
He is survived by his wonderful companion, Billye Watts; daughter, Donna Boyers & her husband, Jim of Florence, KY; son, Raymond Pate, Jr. & his wife, Kathy of OKC; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church and his Encouragers Sunday School Class which he loved very much.
Viewing will be 4-8 PM Friday at Vondel Smith Mortuary, S. Western. Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S. Penn. Friends may leave condolences at www.vondelsmithmortuary.com
