Francis Ocie Shrader, 1926-1995 was a patient at Catawba Tuberculosis Sanitarium, Catawba, Roanoke Co., VA. I, Karen EAGLE Moman, remember when my parents took a trip to visit Aunt Fran in the Catawba TB Facility. Fran's sister, Hettie Marie (Shrader) Eagle, my mother, told me that Fran was not discharged from Catawba, but Fran ran away and married Adrain Leon Sadler 25 November, 1946 at Pineville, Bell Co., KY. Pineville, KY is located in the lower southeaster part of that state. Bell Co., KY is near the southwestern end of VA and above the Tennessee state line.

It appears that the Darcie Ray Eagle, 1915-2001 & Hettie Marie Shrader, b. 1918 family would have been living at Falls View, Fayette Co., WV when we visited Aunt Fran ...the visit that Karen remembers. Karen remembers wearing a little pink wool suit, using a bathroom that had two doors (apparently a bathroom for adjoining hospital rooms), and getting locked in the bathroom. I, Karen Eagle Moman, have based this fact on the event of Judith Eagle being born August 10, 1947 when we lived at Falls View, WV.

Fancis Ocie Shrader was delivered, at Mudfork, near Falls Mills, Tazewell Co., VA.,
by Dr. FRANCIS "Frank" Pyott, 1876-1936, and was named in honor of him. Therefore, Fran carried the masculine spelling of the name "Farncis" rather than the feminine spelling of "Frances."

Dr. Frank Pyott, Country Doctor:
Dr. Frank Pyott of Tip Top, Tazewell Co., VA., was a beloved doctor in the Tip Top and Mud Fork area communities. At his passing in 1936, he was probably the last country doctor who responded to calls from the mountains and valleys on horseback.

My mother, Hettier Marie (Shrader) Eagle, (sister of Frances Shrader) remembers Dr. Pyott and the big black horse he rode.

I , James Hugh Mathena, talked with Thelma (Epperson) Shrewsberry today and she has been reading your "Taborville" book. Thelma told me on the phone today that she grew up with your mom , Hettie Marie Shrader, and Frances Ocie Shrader (Hettie's sister) was her best friend. I think she said your mother lived immediately above them on a mountain

Adrain leon Sadler, 1925-1996, was born at the home in Leckie, Mc Dowell Co., WV., and was known in the earlier part of the 1900's as the Sadler Mansion.
