Robert Howard Bellmer, 71, went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 1, 2014 after a brave battle with cancer. He was born on August 25, 1942, in Oakland, California to Eleanor and Robert Bellmer Sr. He married his loving and devoted wife Cynthia Marie Bellmer on January 11, 1969 and they were married for over 45 years. He was employed as a bookkeeper for Valley Manufactured Homes for 39 years and owned and operated his own accounting business as sole proprietor for 40 years. Bob faithfully served his country in the army during the Vietnam War for which he had the utmost pride. Bob was devoted to being a husband and father and received the most joy from being able to provide for his family. He served as an usher for St. Philip the Apostle Church for over 17 years and was committed to raising his children as active members of the Roman Catholic Faith. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Marie Bellmer; his two children, Christine Ann Mikulich of Houston, Texas and Robert Anthony Bellmer of San Diego, California; his two grandchildren, Matthew Bryce Mikulich and Gabrielle Mary Mikulich and his two brothers, Richard Bellmer of San Leandro, California and Russell Bellmer of Davis, California.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. followed by Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 9:00 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 7100 Stockdale Highway, Bakersfield, California, 93309. A reception will be held immediately following at the home of Bob and Cynthia Bellmer. Burial services with full military honors will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday May 7, 2014 at the Bakersfield National Cemetery located at 30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd, Arvin, California 93203.
