Mildred Mae Robinson, 94, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2014.
She was born in Wheaton, Hand County, South Dakota to Johann Friedrich Tjarks and Johanna Elizabeth ( nee Suter) Tjarks. She graduated from Grand Island Business College in Nebraska. During World War II, she worked for the War Department at the Pentagon. On Aug 18, 1943, she married Morley B. Robinson. After the war they made their home first in Bangor for 10 years and then South Portland for over 50 years. In 2012, they moved to Langdon Place of Dover, N.H.
Mildred enjoyed various crafts, but her specialty was cake decorating where she won many awards. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping in their motor home and were active members of Thornton Heights United Methodist Church in South Portland.
She is survived by her husband, Morley B. Robinson; daughter Joan C. Christakis and husband Ernest of Wilson, N.C., and son Dana F. Robinson and his wife Kerri of Berwick. She is survived by four grandchildren, Kristin Sexton, Devin Robinson, Trent Robinson and Ainsley Groen; as well as six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Johanna Tjarks; brothers, Raymond and Clifford Tjarks; and son, Brenton L. Robinson.

Visiting hours will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, North Berwick, on Sunday, May 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. Interment will be at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014.
