Steve was a 22 year Air force veteran. He served in Korea and other countries. Married twice first to his highschool sweetheart and had 3 children,Steve Jr., Shawn,and Stacy second to a korean girl and had 2 children.Candace,and Sandra. He suffered from diabetes and heart trouble. in the end his kidneys failed. He lost his left leg in 2013 . He was baby brother to 5 sisters, Norma,Jean,Virginia,Barbara and Irene.Stephen Decatur Lugenbeel Sr. "Slyder," 70, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in Crestview, Fla.

He was a 22-year Veteran of the United States Air Force.

Slyder leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Stephen(Lynn)Lugenbeel Jr of Fort Walton Beach and Shawn(Catherine) Lugenbeel of Greenville, S.C.; two daughters, Stacey (Richmond) Thomas of Selma, Ala., and Candice (Bill) Strauss of Navarre, Fla.; three sisters, Norma (Mac) McInturff, Irene Lugenbeel and Jean Lugenbeel; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a very long time best friend, Bernice Dixon.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Evelyn Lugenbeel; a devoted daughter, Sandra Marie Lugenbeel; two sisters, Barbara and Ginger Lugenbeel and his loving pet, Baron.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Davis-Watkins Crestview Memorial Chapel, 492 E. Pine Avenue, Crestview, FL 32539 beginning 11 a.m. with full military honors provided by the USAF with Brother Joel Davis officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to NKF of Florida, Inc. 1040 Woodcock Rd Ste 119, Orlando, FL 32803-3510, 800-927-9659.
