NEW ORLEANS, FRIDAY MORNING.
AUGUST 28, 1868.
The death of Capt. Wm. H. Folger, announced in our city papers yesterday, removes from us one of the old landmarks left on our shore by the waves of the sea, upon which he many, many years rode as one of its old and characteristic commanders. Capt. Folger was a most substantial citizen, a hearty friend, a frank and fair opponent, and a man who never flinched from the full performance of whatever he regarded as his duty. He was a native of the state of New York, and a brother of Messrs. Lafayette and N. C. Folger, who, being more actively in business now, may be better known to the majority of our readers.
