Courageously enduring a long illness, Miss Edna C. Knight, departed this life on Monday, August 1, 1988, leaving a beautiful legacy. She was born on February 5, 1897, one of five children to the late Edward and Maria Branch Knight in Richmond, Virginia, where she received her early schooling. She was a graduate of Armstrong Hight School and Van De Vyver Business College. She attended Virginia Union University for two years.

She was baptized by the late Rev. J. J. Woodson and became an ardent and dedicated member of the Providence Park Baptist Church serving on the senior choir, Deaconess Board, Missionary Circle, Earnest Workers club and other organizations of the church. She will be remembered for the many fund raising projects sponsored along with others for the church and community. Her words of wisdom were an inspiration to her family, pastor, church members and friends.

For many years she worked as a privates duty nurse and in later years she was employed and retired from the Richmond Public School Cafeteria Department.

She is survived by two sisters, Mesdames Charlotte K. Bell and Ellen C. Patterson; six nieces Mesdames Odessa R. Thomas, Rubye R. Hill, Jean P. Brooks, Evelyn R. Bankett, Wilnette Square and Grace W. Flowers; one nephew, Richard W. Robinson; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Rosa L. Knight, one brother-in-law, Mr. Clarence Robinson, numerous other relatives and friends; two devoted friends, Mrs. Rosa P. Wood and Mr. Ramon Cowans.
