Stella was born Anastacia Skierka in Danzig, Prussia and emigrated with her parents to America in 1890. She grew up in Wisconsin, later moving to Montana, finally settling in Elgin, Oregon where she raised her 5 daughters. In retirement she and Charlie lived in outer southeast Portland.
