Alfred was the son of John W. and Laura Lewis of Pitcher, NY. He married Miss Palmyra Huntley.

Death of Alfred R. Lewis
Alfred R. Lewis, aged nearly 75 years, died at the home of his son, Edmund Lewis of High Street, in this village, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, formerly of North Pitcher, broke up housekeeping several years ago and had since made their home with their children and came to Homer from the home of their daughter, Mrs. Edward Moore, 25 Pendleton Street, Cortland about two weeks ago.
Mr. Lewis had been in poor health for some years, but his last illness was brief. He had lived with his children here part of the time for three or four years.
He is survived by his wife and by six children: Edmund, Eugene and Allen Lewis of Homer, Mrs. Clara Leach of Pontiac, Mich., Mrs. William Byron of Solon, Mrs. Edward Moore of Cortland, and by several grandchildren.
The remains were taken to the home of Mrs. Edward Moore in Cortland, yesterday morning and the funeral will be held at her home today at 2 p.m.
Burial will be made in McGraw.
