Murrell E. Evans passed away of cancer at his home in Apple Valley, Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at the age of 74. Murrell was born on July 31, 1928, in Jacksonville, Texas. He moved to California in 1929. He was a 1947 graduate of Lone Pine High School in Lone Pine. Murrell was a journeyman carpenter and worked in the construction trade until retirement in 1987. He moved to Redding in 1963 where he lived until moving to Apple Valley in 2001. He loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Connie Evans; his daughters, Charlotte Ross of Apple Valley and Carol Anstead of Justin, Texas, and son Carl Evans of Redding; sisters Verda Zeimet and Wanda Langford of Redding; grandchildren William Ross of Boise, Idaho, Renee Moore and Rebekah Sherwood of Apple Valley, Ben Smith, Jason and Trampas Evans of Redding and Tim Ross of Anderson; great grandchildren James, Amanda, Christina, Jon and Sarah Moore of Apple Valley, Justin Sherwood of Apple Valley, Dakota Smith, Coulter, Damon and Katlin Ross of Anderson, Kelsee Evans of Redding and several nephews and nieces. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 24000 Waalew Road in Apple Valley, with Pastor William A. Ross of Apple Valley Family Fellowship Baptist Church officiating. Sunset Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements.
