Henry Kruse, a German about 51 years of age, was drowned on Monday of last week in the Old Stephens lake in the southern part of the county. He was returning from Hochheim, being under the influence of whisky, when he met a friend named Habbe. After passing Habbe, Kruse's team became entangled in some grape vines. Habbe started towards him with an ax for the purpose of cutting the vines and freeing the team, but Krause misunderstood his meaning and fled, jumping into the lake, where he drowned. The body was recovered Thursday. On it was found $103. (from Contributor 47210136)
