Elaine Vaden Lewis, age 78, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 in Haskell, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Knox City, Texas. Interment will be in the Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Elaine was born April 20, 1936 in Seymour, Texas, to Clarence Edward and Ida M. Thorn Vaden. She was a homemaker and had served on the Knox City City Council and as the City Judge in Knox City. She was an avid seamstress and sewed for the public for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Knox City, and had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 119 in Knox City.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Deering and husband, Larry of San Antonio, Texas; four sons, Danny Lewis and wife, Amber of Knox City, Troy Lewis and wife, Sheri of Lubbock, Texas, Todd Lewis and wife, Missy of Haskell, Texas, and Shane Lewis and wife, Aimee of Yukon, Oklahoma; two sisters, Neva Elliott of Princeton, Texas, and Nancy Davis of Seymour, Texas; three brothers, Ed Vaden of Wichita Falls, Carl Vaden of Seymour, Texas, and Jimmy Vaden and wife, Barbara of Seymour, Texas; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Bobby Lewis, and a sister, Patsy Cassle.
Memorials may be made to the Hendrick Hospice in Abilene, Texas.
