Henry W. Barber, age 85, of Blountstown, Florida passed away in Panama City, Florida Thursday, May 8, 2014.


Mr. Henry was born in Fowlstown, Georgia, October 27, 1928 to the late Hardie Hinton and Daisy (Pelham) Barber. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and later retired from Orange County School Maintenance Department as Supervisor. He moved to Blountstown in the year 2000 and was a member of Victory Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Emmett Barber, Jurnal Barber, Jr. and Charlie Morgan Barber; three sisters, Ruby Clemmons, Trudy Barber and Lily Gunn.

Survivors include his loving wife, "The Love of His Life", Eloise Waldroff Barber; his best fishing buddy, grandson Jay W. Bruce and his fiancée, Carolyn Reeves; his daughter, Dawn Ussery and her husband John; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his children "by choice", two sons, Gary Henderson and David Henderson and his wife, Susan; three daughters, Susan H. Barfield, Gaylan H. Henson "The Rock" and her husband John, and Darlene H. Tolbert and her husband Dewayne; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 9 at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 10 in the Chapel at Adams Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunny Hill Cemetery near Altha, Florida with full military honors.
