Harry Morris
PRINCETON Harry Morris, 77, of 1210 Thornton Avenue, Princeton, died Friday morning, Aug. 25, 2006 at the Princeton Community Hospital with his family by his side after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Oct. 12, 1928 in McAlphin, he was the son of the late Jeffrey and Mary Doss Morris. Throughout the years, Mr. Morris worked as a logger, auto body repairman and retired as a tractor trailer truck driver. He also had a love of classic cars and restoring them after his retirement.
Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his loving wife, Venie Sue Morris, two brothers, Thomas and Donald, and one sister, Frances Mack.
He is survived by four sons, Benny Ray Morris and wife Julia of Bluefield, Billy Joe Morris and wife Sandra of Lashmeet, Ricky Dale Morris and wife Janet of Glen Lyn, Va., and Harry Gregory "Greg" Morris and wife Sherry of Princeton; one daughter, Joyce Marie Jones and husband Jimmy of Princeton; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Morris of Sophia; two sisters, Evelyn Richards of Sophia and Dorothy Adams of Maryland.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 28, 2006 at 1 p.m. from the Kellysville Church of God in Kellysville with Pastors Franklin Adkins and Danny Gunnoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton.
Willie Havens, Steven King, Jody Morris, Jimmy Jones Jr., Craig Morris and Ernie Carroll will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Kellysville Church of God in Kellysville today from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
