Emma Marie Roettger, 98


Emma Marie Roettger, 98, of Lancing, departed this life to be with her Lord on Monday evening, Sept. 21, 2009. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wartburg, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, she was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and a member of the choir. She was a devoted wife and mother and an energetic homemaker. She was a dedicated caregiver for many years during the infirmity of her husband, her father, and her sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Roettger; parents, Frederick Bardill and Anna Melhorn Bardill; sisters, Edith Kreis, Minnie Bardill and Margaret Perkins; and brothers, Fred Bardill and Martin Bardill.

Mrs. Roettger is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Evelyn Roettger of Lancing and George and Ruby Roettger of Knoxville; grandchildren and spouses, Joel and Stacy Roettger, Mark and Cristin Roettger, Michael Roettger and Emily and Matthew Graber; three great-grandchildren, Noah Roettger, Ella Roettger and Ian Graber; special friends, Icy Miller, Barbara Chapman, Cindy Bielat, Necie Martin, Jeannie Green and Becky Nelson.

The family received friends Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services followed at 3 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Skov officiating. Interment followed in the Morgan Memorial Gardens.

Memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 67, Wartburg, TN 37887.
