BROWN, Ellen Dupnack

Born June 2, 1921 in Pricedale, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday Jan 8, 2006.

Loving wife of George G. Brown; beloved mother of Catherine Stigge and husband Vern of Hillsborough, California, Scott and wife Jessica Brown of Sacramento, California, Jeffery Brown and Anita Holland of Cameron Park, California; loving sister of Julianna Schuck, Evelyn Leary, Joyce Kuslits the late Barbara Cowal, Anna Herbei and John Dupnack; and devoted grandmother of Jennifer, Andrew and Elizabeth Stigge, and Nicholas and Carmen Brown.

A special appreciation to her loving care givers and granddaughter Carmen.

Ellen graduated from Western High School in Detroit, Michigan in 1937 and worked at AAA Michigan. She met George in Detroit July 13, 1938 and married him in Visalia California on October 9, 1943 during George's aviation cadet training. She attended Sul Ross State Teachers College in 1944.

Ellen worked for two famous neurosurgeons at the University of Michigan during George's college years. George and Ellen traveled extensively, living in six states during 62 years of marriage.

Ellen was an active member of the Cameron Park Country Club for 32 years. She won the Ladies Goldorado Golf tournament in 1988. She shot a whole-in-one on two occasions.

Ellen was a wonderful cook and accomplished homemaker. She enjoyed cooking Russian specialties and Scottish pastries.

She loved gardening and tending to her beautiful roses. Ellen established homes in Ann Arbor MI, Long Beach CA, Dayton and Fairborn OH, Westwood NJ, Fullerton CA, Tulsa OK, Palos Verdes CA and Cameron Park CA.

We wish to thank our many relatives, neighbors, and friends for their kindness shown during her illness, especially Senior Day Care in Placerville and Dr. Robert De Bruin, his staff and the staff at Folsom Mercy Hospital.

A service/viewing will be held Friday, January 13th from 7-9 pm at Green Valley Mortuary Chapel, corner of Green Valley and Bass Lake Roads, Cameron Park followed by a funeral service Saturday, January 14th at 10 am at Light of the Hills Lutheran Church, 3100 Rodeo Road, Cameron Park.

Interment at Green Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
