Born in Kent, Washington, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam.
He was also a member of the American Legion the V.F.W. and was a pneumatice engineer in Off Shore Oil.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Parker "Millie" Averill of Tigerville; mother, Yvonne Averill of Cooperstown, N.Y.; sons, Gilbert Brant Jr. of Memphis, Tenn. and Wolfgang Veeck Averill of Greenville; brothers, Clive, Timothy, Henry and Peter Averill; two grandsons.
