Beverly Bednar Boettcher, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Beverly was born December 2, 1929 in Beatrice, Nebraska, the only child of Albert and Frankie Bednar. Her cousin Eileen would be a sister to her for life. Bev graduated from York High School. An outgoing, active young woman, she was a Nebraska state bowling champion. She married Jack Boettcher of Beatrice, NE, in 1952. Together they enjoyed raising their two children, Craig and Judy. After living in Germany for two years, they returned to the States and lived in Springfield, Mo. In 1970, they moved to Houston, TX. Beverly was a wonderful, vivacious hostess to the company and neighborhood parties that they had. Bev began the friendships that carried her to the very end of her life. She was an easy person to become friends with. She had an enthusiasm for life that was contagious and genuine. She was part of a Birthday Club that met monthly for over 30 years. Whether playing bridge or having lunch, Bev loved the simple pleasures in life with the people she loved. Later in life, she took on a new challenge by going back to work. She worked for Strauss Systems for 20 years as a receptionist and greeter. Her natural charm was a great asset for the company. Her birthday was always a cause for celebration as it became common practice that all of the salespeople remembered it with gifts and phone calls. She thought of the company as her second family.
In 2003, Bev was diagnosed with emphysema which required her to carry oxygen with her for the rest of her life. Bev didn't seem to miss a step. She continued to work and enjoy her children, grandchildren and friends. Nebraska football was a passion for her as well as most sports. Beverly also continued to grow in her faith in Christ through her consistent involvement in All Saints Episcopal Church. As she neared the end of her life, she looked forward to the reunion she is now enjoying with her Lord and departed family.

Beverly is survived by her son, Craig Boettcher and his wife Judy of Sugar Land, TX; daughter, Judy Schonewald and her husband Rich of Rowley, MA; grandchildren, Brett Boettcher and his wife Patricia, and Brian, Trevor, and Ashley Schonewald; and 1 great-grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 12, 2014, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 605 Dulles Ave., Stafford, TX. A reception will follow at the church. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association , www.lung.org, or to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, www.nationalmssociety.org.
