On Thursday, October 14, 1993, services were held for A. Gladys Fogelman Andersen, age 71, of Alta. Pastor Dick Dahle conducted the 10:20 a.m. service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta with burial in the Scandinavian Cemetery in Alta. Gladys was born to August and Augusta Johnson Gustafson on November 9, 1921 in Aurelia, Iowa. She graduated from Aurelia high school and attended beauty school in Sioux City. She was married to Dale Fogelman in 1946 in California. in 1981 in Alta, Iowa she later married Arles Andersen. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Aurelia and in Alta from 1943 to 1972. She was a nurse aid from 1973 to the closing of the Alta memorial hospital. Gladys held memberships at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, Alta Golf and County Club, V. F.W. Auxiliary, and the Alta Bridge Club. She passed away on Monday October 11,1993 at the Countyside Retirement Home in Sioux City, Iowa. Survivors include her son Richard and wife Debra Fogelman of Omaha; two daughters, Tyanne Elliott of Alta and Joanne and husband Dan Braunschweig of Laurens; three brothers, Bert and wife Joyce Gustafson of Dension, Rune and wife Shirley Gustafson of Alta, and Stewart and wife Edith Gustafson; six grandchildren; Don and Ron Elliott, Nathan and Nichols Fogelman, Adam and Shane Braunschweig. She was proceeded in death by her parents, and a sister-Myrtle Sophie Gustafson. Barker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
