Darrell Wayne Parrish, 75, of Hannibal, Mo., and formerly of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 8:41 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.
A Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Ronn Pashia will officiate. Private inurnment will be at Stewart Cemetery in Plainville, Ill.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of services Saturday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Parrish was born Nov. 19, 1938, in Hannibal, Mo., to Charles P. and Alice Glascock Parrish.
He was married to Jackie Sturtevant on Oct. 12, 1958, in Hull, Ill. She survives.
Other survivors include four children, Darren Parrish (Teri) of Elkhart, Ill., Michael Parrish (Jayma) of Wilmington, Ill., Dena Martin (Kevin) of Lexington, S.C., Jodi Short of Shreveport, La., two brothers, Carl Parrish (Carrie) and Charles Parrish, two sisters, Helen Tapley (Ron) and Phyllis Campfield, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Knolhoff; one son, Chris Parrish; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Parrish worked as a millwright for over 47 years at Caterpillar in Peoria, Ill., retiring in 2005. He worked in the skilled trades maintenance department. Darrell liked building houses and was always making home improvements. He was very talented and had a green thumb. Darrell loved to dance, especially with his grandkids. He also enjoyed being outdoors and watching birds and loved spending time with his dogs. Mr. Parrish was a Baptist by faith.
