He was born Feb. 20, 1914 in Oldenburg, Ind., the son of Henry and Barbara Bedel Gehring. He was a retired carpenter. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, Ind., and of the Carpenters Union Local 60, Indianapolis.
He was never married, and is survived by three brothers, Emil Gehring, Batesville, Ind., Leo Gehring, Oldenburg, Ind., and Allan Gehring, Beech Grove, Ind.; three sisters, Mrs. Leo (Alvina) Wenning, Greensburg, Mrs. Nelson (Emma) Biltz, and Mrs. Thomas (Louise) Merkel, both of Batesville, Ind., and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Collis Gehring; and one sister, Mrs. Frank (Evelyn) Allgeier.
Burial was in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.
Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville, Ind., was in charge of arrangements.
