MRS. RACHEL OWENS DIES AT AGE 96
Mrs. Rachel Story Owens, 96 of Macon, died today at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Tab Lenzini, who had cared for her the past three years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Hutton Funeral Home and burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Owens was born Oct. 25, 1866 in Shelby County, the daughter of the late Rumsey and Rebecca (Davis) Snow.
She was married Dec. 24, 1887 to A.J. Story and to their union nine children were born. Mr. Story died in 1936. She was married to Will Owens in 1943 and he also preceded her in death in 1946.
Mrs. Owens had been a member of the Assembly of God church here for thirty years and was a faithful member as long as her health permitted.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Bess Bruington of Oakdale, California, Mrs. Jo Carl of Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs. Marvin Perkins of Hannibal; two sons, Lonnie Story of Macon, and Ted Story of Kansas City, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grand- child.
She had been preceded in death by three daughters, Mrs. Adelia Dennis, Mrs. Lula Wisenborn and Mrs. Bonnie Wares; and one son, Emery Story.
The body will lie in state at the funeral home until the time of services.
