He was mustered into Company E. on Sep 18, 1861 and served until expiration of his enlistment when he reenlisted at Brownstown, TX as a "Veteran Volunteer" on Feb 10, 1864.

He was a member of Grand Army of the Republic Post 28, Chicago, IL. and is buried in Post 28ths' Plot.

When he died at the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 21 days his occupation was listed as a wagon builder and he resided at 2657 Warren Ave., Chicago, IL.
