John was born to the late Edwin Oscar and Maggie Mae Sheffield. John was the baby of eleven (11) siblings. He proudly served his country from 1942 - 1945 in the Army Airforce in the Northeastern France Campaign and Rhinelands Battle. John was a B-17 Bomber Aerial Gunner serving 35 missions over Germany. In 1953, he moved to Houston and began his 38year career as a commercial bus driver for Southwest Greyhound with a perfect safety record. John is survived by his loving wife of 62years, Geraldine Teague Sheffield; sons, Johnny Sheffield and wife, Becky, Jimmy Sheffield and wife, Debbie; daughter, Judy Kristynik and husband, Ronnie; grandchildren, Matt Sheffield and wife, Shawna, Sean Sheffield and Jessica, Cammy Sheffield, Rhonda Lindholm and husband, Matt, Renee Kristynik; four (4) great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Spence of Arlington, TX; numerous nieces and nephews, many loving friends and his best friend and faithful companion, Mitzi.
