William John Carufel was born at Cornell on Dec. 27, 1909. His family moved to Couderay when he was 7 years old and he grew to manhood there. On Dec. 7, 1929, he was united in marriage to Emiline Gobert at Solon Springs, and to this union two children were born. The family lived at Solon Springs for some time and went to Spooner in 1949, moving to Detroit in 1951. The family was returning to Spooner when Mr. Carufel was taken suddenly ill. He passed away at Hammond, IN, Monday, March 29, at the age of 44 years, 3 months, and 2 days.
He is survived by his wife, Emiline, and two children, William Charles, in the US Army, and Hazel, at home; one brother Edward of Hayward; 7 sisters, Mrs. Louis Rolf of Kenosha, Miss Ann Carufel and Mrs. Julie Burkholder of Couderay, Mrs. Lena Sweet of Oshkosh, Mrs. Margaret Houck of Hammond, IN, Mrs. Emma Fahrenkrug of Hartford, WI, and Mrs. Cella McDonald of Detroit, MI, and many other relatives. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 1, at 9 A.M. from St. Francis de Sales Church in Spooner, Rev. Fr. Arthur Webber officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Spooner.
