SHREVEPORT, LA- William Edward Ball (Ed), age 90, went to Heaven on May 5, 2014. He leaves behind Hazel, his wife of 57 years, son, Lance Ball and wife Debbie, daughter, Anna Riley and husband Randall, grandchildren, Haley Ball, Dixie Ball, Chris Ball, and Keith Thomas Jr., several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nola Kate Nelson, and brother, Howard Ball. He was born Nov. 28, 1923 in Louin, Mississippi to parents Grover Cleveland and Idell Ball.

He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He graduated from The Mississippi Southern College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1949 with a major in accounting and moved to Shreveport where he worked for United Gas, and later retired from Pennzoil after working there over 30 years. Ed Ball was a devout Christian and attended the Senior Mens Sunday School Class at Broadmoor Baptist Church for many years.

Visitation at Rose-Neath Southside will be May 9, 2014 Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., and Funeral service May 10, 2014 Saturday at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath Southside. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Williams. Burial will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery.

Mr. Ball was born on November 28, 1923 in Luing, MS and passed away on May 5, 2014. He served in the Merchant Marines during WW II. He is survived by his wife Hazel Ball, son Lance Ball and daughter Anna Riley.
