A service will be held Monday, May 12, 2014, at noon at Phillips United Methodist Church followed by interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Jean was born May 3, 1926, in Fort Smith. After graduating from Hendrix College in 1947, she moved to Kansas City, where she met Robert L. Vette. They were married April 3, 1949. Besides her family, Jean loved her dogs, bridge, bowling, golf and traveling. After 20 years as a special education teacher in Jefferson County, she retired in 1986.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Hubert and Mary Rebecca Dorsey; brothers, Joe and Hugh; her husband, Bob; and first-born son, Robert. Survivors include her daughters, Susan Ester and Beckie Mahoney; a son, Robert; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Erin (Aaron, Brenna and Audree) McElhattan and Greg (Taegan and Kaden) Ester
