Reba Katherine Montgomery, 86, of the Mt. Lake Community near Newport went to be with her Lord Friday Dec. 9, 2005 at Montgomery Regional Hospital in the loving care of her family. Born at Newport on April 17, 1919 she was a daughter of the late Jessie Clyde and Annie Z. Porterfield. She was a member of Sherry Memorial Christian Church near her home and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker in her community. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles W. Montgomery and a son Jessie Dewayne Montgomery.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son and daughter-in-law Nolan and Hilda Montgomery of Newport; three grandchildren Rhonda and Randy Custer, Jessica Lynn Montgomery, William Todd and Regina Montgomery; four great-grandchildren Cydney Gayle Custer, Jeffery Alan Montgomery, Kathryn Shay Custer, and Bailey Anne Custer; a step-grancchild Rebecca V. Talbert and two step great-grandchild Chasity Phillips, and Heather Custer. .
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 PM the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery at Newport. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Heritage Hall Health Care and Montgomery Regional Hospital for their loving care to Reba and to special friends Earl and Fern Echols, Margie Lucas, Mary Snow Ross and Tina Graham
