She married Allan Abel on May 8, 1948 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brillion. He preceded her in death on November 19, 1989. They lived in the Milwaukee area and farmed a little until 1955 and then moved back to Brillion, where they made their home. She was employed at Globe Union in Milwaukee and then at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein for over 33 years, retiring in 1992. She was very active in her church, participating in Ladies Aid, School Club, LWMS, handbells and choir. She served the Lord well.
Zapora is survived by her three children: Delmar (Mary) Abel of Germantown, Marilyn Davis of Hortonville and Glenn (Judy) Abel of Brillion, nine grandchildren: Julie (Kenneth) Frosch of Fairmont, WV, Cindy (Brian) Piefer of Menomonee Falls, Laurie (Chad) Kluth of Abrams, Michael Van Gompel of Hortonville, Chad (Michelle) Van Gompel of Neenah, Adam Abel of Brillion, Nicholas (Briana) Abel of Brillion, Delmar (Bud) Abel II of Germantown, Ariel Abel of Germantown, 13 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and 2 step great grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister Dorcella Lau of Reedsville, two sisters-in-law Deloris Behnke of Brillion, Mernabelle Behnke of Waterford and a brother-in-law Larry Buege of West Bend as well as many nieces and nephews.
Zapora was preceded in death by her husband Allan Abel, her parents Alice (Kleinow) and Fred Behnke, Jr., a son-in-law James Davis, 3 sisters: Cordula Maile, Elverna Bartel and Loretta Krepline, 2 brothers: Lester and Wilmer Behnke, a sister-in-law Susan Buege and 4 brothers-in-law: Walter Maile, Arthur Krepline, Alois Bartel and Milton Lau.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brillion. The Rev. Ross Henzi will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion on Tuesday, July 20 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and then at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
