Juan V. Abanico, loving husband , father and grandfather, 93, of Port Hueneme passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, at St. John's Hospital in Oxnard after a brief illness. He was born November 19, 1919, in Taal, Batangas, Philippines.

Juan had been a Ventura County resident for the past 34 years coming from the Philippines. Juan was a member of the Senior Citizens of Ventura County, loved dancing, gardening, cooking and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Juan is preceded in death by his sisters: Nonay, Nena, Pising and Tentay.

He is survived by his wife, Ruperta, eight children and children-in-law, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 12, 2013, from 3 to 9 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. in the Chapel at Funeraria Del Angel, 401 W. Channel Islands Blvd., Oxnard 487-4911.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, May 13, 2013, at 9 a.m. at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Oxnard. Private interment.
