Memorial funeral services for Second Lt. Vern F. Barnett, 26, killed Feb. 25, 1944, while on a bombing mission over Germany, will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Spring Lake ward chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by Don E. Taylor, bishop.
Lt. Barnett was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Spring Lake, a son of Eli E. and Minnie Perry. He was graduated from Payson High School and entered the army in February 1941. In September 1941, he married Meredith Sperry of Nephi.
Survivors include his widow, now remarried, Mrs. Meredith Shepherd, a son, Larry Barnett, Salt Lake City; his parents; six sisters, Mrs. Rhea Spainhower and Mrs. Nina Benner, Spring Lake; Mrs. Leola Smith, Lou Ella and Nedra Barnett, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Ruby Cushing, Garfield, and a brother, Elbert P. Barnett, Spring Lake.
Graveside military rites will be accorded by the American Legion in Payson Cemetery, Utah County
