Joseph Hervey Colgrove, 85, of Leola, died of natural causes on Friday, May 30th, 2008 at Moravian Manor. He was the husband of Ruth Ann (Watters) Colgrove. They were married 59 years last Nov. 20th. Born in Canaseraga, NY on June 25, 1922, he was a son of the late Harold V. and Mary (Gray) Colgrove.
He was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan in 1948 and earned an MBA from Northwestern University in 1950. Joseph retired as Vice President and General Manager of the R.C.A. Color Tube Division, Lancaster in 1982 with 32 years of service to the company. He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, 1801 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and attained the rank of T/Sgt. in the Ordinance Corps. He was a member of the Lancaster Pirate Club, Past Director of Lancaster General Hospital Foundation, past Chairman & Director of Lancaster General Hospital and Lancaster General Service Co., Past Director of Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Director Lancaster/Lebanon Boy Scout Council, past member of the Rohrerstown Band.
Survivors: Wife, Son(s): Robert H. of Santa Ana, CA., Steven G. of Easton, PA, Thomas V. of Johnsburg, IL, James F. of Conestoga, PA; three granddaughters: Jennifer D., Diana L., Lindsey E.
Memorial service will be held Monday, June 2, 2008 at 3:30pm in the main chapel at Highland Presbyterian Church. Friends will be received from 2:30 until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Presbyterian Church or Lanc. Gen Hosp. College of Nursing.
