Longtime Sheboygan teacher Arvin “Tex” Ahlf, 60, 709 Dillingham Avenue, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Sept. 25, 1986 at his home.

He was born March 26, 1926, in New Holstein, the son of the late Helmuth and Clarinda Ahlf. He attended public schools and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1943.

Mr. Ahlf enrolled at the former Stout Institute, Menominee, interrupted by service in the U. S. Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946. He served in Europe, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He graduated from Stout Institute in 1949 with a degree in industrial education. He later received a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and science certification from Lakeland College. He received further schooling in chemistry at the University of Indiana.

Mr. Ahlf taught in the Sheboygan Area School District for 35 years, beginning in 1949. He taught biology and chemistry at South High School when he retired in June. He had also been chairman of the school’s science department for eight years.
On June 11, 1949 he was married to Marjorie Thull of Sheboygan at St. Mark Lutheran Church.
He was a member and former vice-president of Sheboygan Education Association and member of the Wisconsin and National Education Associations. He was a member of Prescott-Bayens American Legion Post 83, and Sheboygan YMCA Men’s Club.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. David (Christine) Holm of Baraboo; a son, David of Milwaukee; and a brother, Duane Ahlf of Janesville.
Funeral services were held at St. Mark Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jerome Groth, pastor officiating. Family burial rites were held Monday at Wildwood Cemetery.
