Stephanie Ann Bernard, 85, died Wednesday morning, December 27, 1972, in a local hospital, where she was taken Monday after suffering a stroke. She was born March 18, 1887, at Fiskdale, MA.
Stephanie attended schools in Jefferson, SD, and was married June 1, 1910, at Billings, MT, to George Bernard.
They ranched in the Arpan area until 1917, when they moved to Deadwood, living there since.
Survivors include her husband, George, Deadwood; three sons, Pierre Bernard, Oakland, CA, Rear Adm. (retired), Lawrence Bernard, Santa Ross, CA, and Harry E. Bernard, Santa Ana, CA; one daughter, Lorraine (Francis) Schopen, Deadwood; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Barchell, Lead; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Kate Manseau, Lead.
She was preceded in death by four sons, in infancy.
Mass of the Resurrection for Stephanie will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Church in Deadwood with the Rev. James Becht as celebrant.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rosary will be 7:30 pm, Friday at Wells Funeral Home.
