F. C. Martin Dies at 63

Francis C. Martin, 63 of 301 Washington St., Brownville, retired business manager of The North Country Library System, and a trustee of the Brownville Board, died at noon Tuesday at Roswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo.
The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Frederick Brownell, Charles Trapp, Eugene Parker, James Hayes, Robert Nadelen and Lyle Connor.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Donations may be made in his name to Immaculate Conception Church or to the Roswell Park Research Center, Buffalo.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Thelma B. Martin; three daughters, Mrs. Fred R. (Mary Sue) Bence, Watertown, Mrs. David (Ann) Bezy, Brownville, and Mrs. Joseph (Michele) Marks, Brownville, six grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Scharch, East Pepperell, Mass., and his father Charles G. Martin, 208 Wyoming Ave., Watertown, N. Y.
Born Jan. 23, 1912 in Watertown, the son of Charles G. and Lillian Switzer Martin, he was graduated from Watertown High School in January, 1931 and attended the Watertown School of Commerce. He worked for a time for Knowlton Brothers and joined the Watertown Police Department as a patrolman in June 1940. He served on the police force until October, 1947.
In 1947 he joined the Agricultural Insurance Co., and served with the firm 17 years as purchasing agent. He then joined the North Country Library System, retiring in 1973 as business manager after eight years with the system.
He married Miss Thelma C. Baldwin of Brownville Oct. 19, 1940, at Immaculate Conception Church.
He was a retired member of the Brownville Fire Department and a trustee of the Brownville Board.
