John Feagins & wife Caroline McLain Feagins lived in the Stacy area. He was buried in Long's Bend Cemetery.
After John died, Caroline lived with her daughter Add (Martha Adderson) & her husband Bud Farmer. They lived on River Rd in Surgoinsville.
Their house was on the hill behind Harve & Mammie Burchfield. Mammie (Nancy Ann) was another daughter of Caroline. Mammie saw out her back window when the house of the Farmers caught fire.
Bud got the children out, Ray (a twin) Lilly, Dolly, Miller, Dover, & Mack. But he was unable to save Rita (a twin to Ray) and Sally.
Their mother Add died, as well as her mother Caroline Feagins.
(So Killed were: Mary Caroline McLain Feagins, her daughter Martha Adderson "Add" Feagins Farmer, Martha's children Rita (Ray's twin) and Sally.)
This happened about 1927.
Their remains were buried all in 1 grave at the Surgoinsville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mammie often told how she could not look up on the hill.
There is no marker for these graves at the church.
Ray (Rita's twin) died in Ohio, his body found under an automobile, burned.
