The lovely child to whom this monument is erected was drowned under circumstances the most heart rending in embarking on a vessel in Galveston Bay, June 18th 1852, in the 7th year of her age on her way home from a visit with her mother to her friends in Texas
The mother saw her darling child
fall helpless in the foaming tide
with frantic .... and ..... wild
oh .....save my child she cried
But every effort failed to save
Her Emma from a watery grave
Wrapped in the ..... of the deep

But her pure spirit while we weep
Is singing with angels in the skies.
