Funeral Services for Rev. Dr. Edward Leo Webster of Baltimore, Maryland formerly of Lancaster were held 1 P. M. Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Hartswell Baptist Church Lancaster, Virginia with Pastor Bunnie Dunaway, Eulogist.

Edward Leo Webster, son of the late Willie and Mazie Webster, was born Lancaster County, Virginia on January 5, 1920.

Rev. Webster was educated in the Lancaster County Public School System and was a devoted child of God.

Rev. Webster had a wonderful Educational History: In January 1951 he was licensed to preach by Hartswell Baptist Church, in April 1955 he received his Certificate of Ordination by Hartswell Baptist Church; in September 1971 received his Bachelor of Theology Baltimore College of Bible, Baltimore, Maryland; June 1985 received his doctor of divinity from National Seminary and College in October 1991 he received a Certificate from the Ambassador College of Bible Correspondence. His Pastoral History was just an impressive: 1957-1964 he Pastored Galilee Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland; 1960-1964 Queen Esther Baptist Church Mollusk, Virginia; 1977-1993 he was the founder and pastor of First Galilee Baptist Church, Baltimore, Maryland.

Reverend Webster was a man of small stature but a giant of a Preacher in the sight of the Lord. He preached the word of God in season and out of season for over 50 years. Whenever you were in his presence, he always praised the Lord and talked fervently about God's goodness. He was a Pastor and an Assistant Pastor for several churches and through his ministry, many souls gave their life to Christ. In his years of pastoralship and as an evangelist, he visited the sick, preached and ministered to those in the nursing homes, prisons, homeless shelters, and to those who needed to hear the word of God. As a bible preaching minister, he did not hesitate to challenge anyone that did not follow God's navigation system, the Bible.

He was a strict disciplinarian to his children and taught them at a very early age about the Bible and salvation. You could always hear him sing or hum an old spiritual song around the house. His house was always filled with praise and worship.

He was one of the best auto mechanics around. He owned his business for many years where he worked tirelessly side by side with his sons. His customers loved him for his caring spirit. He was always trying to make it better for the next person to keep their automobile running even if they could not pay. It was truly one of his passions with his biggest one being praising the Lord at all times.

This dedicated servant of God peacefully bridged the gulf and heavens. He departed this life on Thursday, February 19, 2009. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Leo Webster.

Reverend Dr. Edward Webster leaves to celebrate the legacy of his life: his devoted wife of 63 years, Dorothy Webster; two sons: Rev. Steve C. Webster and Marvin N. Webster; four daughters: Phyllis Edwards, Maryline Laws, Garnetta Massey and Karen Grimes; two sons-in-law: Earl Gilbert Massey and Rev. Larry Edwards; two daughters-in-law: Lynn Webster and Paula Webster; grandchildren: Thomas Webster, Melvin Webster, Wanda Webster, Trina Webster, James Laws, Angelene Elem, Reuben Laws, Taurette Laws, Katina Webster Jeanette Webster, Earl Massey, II, Marques N. Webster, Delmar Grimes, and Omar Grimes; a brother-in-law: William Coleman; a sister-in-law: Emma Webster; a goddaughter, Benita Robinson, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services of Comfort and Trust entrusted to the Berry O. Waddy Funeral Home, Berry O. Waddy, Manager.
