Little Elsie lived for only a day, but was so loved by her parents. The death certificate shows the surname to be Koska, but it was actually spelled Koczka by her ancestors, but because the death certificate shows her as Koska that spelling is entered here as her maiden name for clarification only. According to her death certificate she was buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan on May 15, 1929.

Following Elsie's death, her parents separated. Her mother stayed in the Highland Park, Wayne, Michigan area for many years before moving to Benzonia, Michigan. She worked for the YMCA and eventually worked as a public school teacher until her retirement in 1964 due to ill health. She never remarried. She died in 1964 in Benzonia, Michigan where she had lived for many years with her sisters.

Her father moved to California, where he continued to work in the printing business mainly in San Francisco. He remarried in 1935 to Evangeline Golden, they divorced in 1954, and he married a final time in 1961 to Alice Willits. He died in Fresno, California in 1996.
